Vin Scully Salutes the Heroes of 911 in Calabasas
Hey Dodger fans. Once again, Vin Scully proves what a class act he is. As he began his 61st season as Dodgers announcer (that’s right SIXTY ONE YEARS), Vin Scully took a moment to apologize to his fans, at an exhibition game between the Dodgers and the Indians, for scaring them after being taken to the hospital after a fall at his home.
At the beginning of his broad cast Scully said, “I hope you don’t mind if I take a moment. First of all, I’m sorry to have caused the accident that caused so much stress. I apologize for that. I’d also like to salute the gentle heroes of 911 in Calabasas and the doctors and nurses at West Hills Hospital for taking care of me so very, very well.”
You don’t even need to be a a Dodger fan to appreciate him. Sports fans of all types understand what an incredible figure Vin Scully is to both baseball and sports in general. He was named both Broadcaster of the Century by the American Sportscasters Association (2000) and top sportscaster of all-time on its Top 50 list (2009).
